Scrubbing In

  • Most surgical procedures require appropriate attire and a scrubbing-in procedure that involves careful washing of the hands and arms, and the use of a surgical cap, mask, eye protection, gown and gloves.

This video demonstrates a proper procedure for performing these tasks.

Needle Thoracentesis

  • Needle thoracentesis is used to diagnose and treat a tension pneumothorax. This 5-minute video uses images, models, and live-action to show the development of a tension pneumothorax and its’ treatment using a 14 gauge needle inserted just above the 3rd rib in the midclavicular line.

Initiate an Intravenous Infusion

  • Medications can be delivered in a variety of ways, including intravenously. This video describes one method for starting an IV. The content was developed in 1993 by the U.S. Army Medical Department for training.

5-Minute Self Breast Exam Video

  • This 5-minute video demonstrates how to perform a self breast exam, and some of the important findings. Abnormal findings include breast asymmetry, nipple discharge, inverted nipples, breast lump and breast mass.

5-Minute SubCutaneous Self-Injection Video

  • Certain medications, such as insulin, growth hormone, and fertility drugs, are best administered through injection into the subcutaneous space, just beneath the skin.

Many patients learn to give themselves these injections. This 5-minute video is designed to assist in the training of individuals to give themselves subcutaneous injections.

Avoiding Breast Self Exam Errors Video

This 5-minute video describes techniques to avoid breast self exam errors and improve the quality of the exam. BSE can be important in diagnosing breast cancer.

Subcutaneous Injections

  • Medications can be administered in a number of ways, among them subcutaneously with a hypodermic needle. This video describes this method.

  • This training program is based on the US Army’s course, with multimedia additions by the Brookside Associates.

TB Skin Testing

  • The Mantoux tuberculin skin test (or TST) is a standard method of determining whether a person is or has been infected with this bacteria. This video demonstrates the technique for administering the skin test and reading the results. Using graphics, models and live patients, standard procedures are shown.

HPV Immunization

  • Human Papilloma Virus infections can be annoying and sometimes dangerous, because of their association with cancers of the genital tract. The HPV vaccine is one technique for reducing the risk of HPV infection of the more annoying and dangerous HPV virus subtypes. This video shows how to administer an HPV immunization, using graphics, models, and live patients. It is appropriate for those medical professionals in training, and for others who are interested in seeing an actual procedure.
