Jim Cearnal was a classmate of Zoe  her senior year of Greenville High School, and again at the University of Illinois in Champaign. He was located as belonging to the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity in 1942.

Jim Cearnal passed away peacefully on July 12, 2010 near his family in Boerne, Texas.

Born April 26, 1922, Jim was the youngest child of Robert Ellis and Hazel Caroline Cearnal.

Jim is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Virginia. He is survived by his four children, sons, James, Jr. and wife Pat; Ron and wife Nanci; David; daughter, Karen Cearnal Schmitt and husband Tim; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

After graduating from Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, MO he attended the University of Illinois in the Engineering Dept. World War II interrupted his college education and shortly before his 21st birthday Jim joined the Navy as a Naval Aviator. While stationed in New Orleans, Jim met Mary and they were married on April 9, 1945. They raised their four children in Texas, Kansas and New Jersey as Jim progressed in his career as a successful pharmaceutical executive. They returned to Austin in 1977 and were faithful parishioners of Riverbend Church, where Jim taught Adult Sunday School class for many years.
