After Tom’s death there was some additional correspondence which has been preserved.

Returned Letters. These were letters written to Tom by Dr. Cartmell, and by Elaine. As he had died before he received them, they were returned.

Letters of Condolence. Some simple expressions from people who knew him, while others told stories of Tom that provide first-hand accounts of his life.
