Operational Obstetrics & Gynecology

The Health Care of Women in Military Settings

The CD-ROM you are about to review is an exceptional educational product developed by the Navy with inputs from the other Services. Operational Obstetrics & Gynecology is a role model product for personnel assigned to operational billets in support of the Expeditionary Air Force.

More women are participating in deployed settings. The capability to provide clinical care in unusual operational environments, and preventive health guidance in garrison for our providers, patients, and line commanders is critical. The focus of Operational Obstetrics & Gynecology is to offer comprehensive guidance for non-obstetricians of all Services with all the clinical and administrative tools required. It provides a vital inter-service perspective as our participation in joint operations increases.

The CD is adaptable as a printed document, series of briefings, videos, and pictures. I urge all medical staff to become familiar with this material. I fully expect that similar products will be forthcoming on other operational medical topics.
