AT-6 Texan

The North American AT-6 Texan (AT for Advanced Trainer) was widely used in the US during WWII as the final step in pilot training before introducing the student the warplane they would actually fly in combat.

In the US Navy, the aircraft was known as the SNJ (S=Scout, N=Trainer, J=North American). It was widely used outside the US, where it was known as the “Harvard” aircraft.
