This Hotel San Carlos was built in downtown Phoenix in 1927 and is still in business. This where Tom’s parents stayed in April of 1944 when they traveled to Luke Army Air Field outside Phoenix to watch him graduate from pilot training.

The Hotel San Carlos branch in Phoenix, Arizona, also known as San Carlos Hotel, is both an operating hotel and tourist site. It has been associated with ghost sightings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1983 as San Carlos Hotel.^[1] Hotel San Carlos is a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation^[2]
