Gonorrhea is a sexually-transmitted disease, not normally present in the
body.
Specimens can be obtained from the urethra, cervix, rectum, pharynx, or
suspicious discharges or drainage.
Positive results can be obtained through:
- Gram's Stain (gram negative diplococci)
- Culture
- Direct Antigen
