The government’s message is not getting through:
bluebells are massing (they haven’t a clue)
and dandelions cluster at less than six feet.
The guidance is clear – we have to defeat
the rampant infection of COVID-19
by keeping our distance. Imagine the scene
with cow parsley frothing all over the verge,
unruly sycamores struggling to merge
and valerian threatening to grab passers by
as it lunges from walls, while above us up high
in the swaying horse chestnut the candles are lit
but closer together than orders permit.
Our health, our economy – all is confusion!
