Welcome

Welcome to the new online version of Oxford Local Meeting’s monthly newsletter.

This web version is in addition to the traditional version, which continues to be available as usual via:

·  Oxford Friends website

·  email from the Office

·  Printouts mailed from the Office

Note: During the Coronavirus pandemic Forty-Three is being published in digital format only. If you know of someone who doesn’t have access to the internet and would appreciate a paper copy, please email the Office. We will ensure that a copy is posted to them.

Traditional Newsletter and e-Newsletter

Originally, the newsletter was designed for printing on standard A4 paper. But many of our readers now view the newsletter on mobile devices. Viewing the A4 format on a mobile phone or tablet can lead to tedious scrolling, with print sometimes so small it is difficult to read. Our new online version adapts to different viewing devices.

This new format also allows us to make use of a broad range of electronic features; readers can post comments on individual articles, high-resolution images can be used, and audio tracks and videos can be posted.

Forty-Three

43 St Giles, Oxford OX1 3LW

The monthly newsletter takes its name from our street address: 43 St Giles, Oxford OX1 3LW.

It has been in circulation for over 10 years and is produced by those in the Quaker community called to this service.

Contributions

The editors welcome Friends’ contributions to Forty-Three.

Contributions, preferably of 500 words or fewer, can be emailed to newsletter@oxfordquakers.org, or a paper copy can be left in the pigeonhole labeled ‘newsletter editors’ in the lobby of 43. Items for the calendar can be emailed to office@oxfordquakers.org .

The newsletter is published on the first of every month; articles should ideally be submitted by the middle of the previous month. We always try to accommodate later contributions, but sometimes have to hold items over to the next issue. Also, please let the editors know if you don’t wish your item to appear in either of the online editions (the e-newsletter or website pdf).

Audio or video contributions are also welcome. They should be produced in a standard media format with a targeted duration of roughly 5 minutes.  Longer or shorter submissions will also be considered.

Feedback

The Newsletter Team welcomes your feedback. Please let us know what you think about the e-newsletter, so that we can modify it to suit your wishes. Send us a note at newsletter@oxfordquakers.org .
