The goal of treatment is to prevent shock. Treat as follows:<\/p>\n<p>(1) Administer 100 percent oxygen.<\/p>\n<p>(2) Establish an IV and run crystalloid or colloid as rapidly as necessary to\u00a0maintain the patient&#8217;s blood pressure.<\/p>\n<p>(3) Transport the patient rapidly to the hospital in the lateral recumbent\u00a0position (also called the obstetrical position, the patient lies on her left side with her right\u00a0thigh and knee drawn up).<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>CAUTION: NEVER do a vaginal examination on any woman with third-trimester\u00a0bleeding.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>a.
