LESSON OBJECTIVES After completing this lesson, you should be able to:

3-1. Identify the steps (in sequence) for evaluating a

casualty and initiating rescue breathing.

 

3-2. Identify the proper procedures (in sequence) for

opening a casualty's airway using the jaw-thrust

method and the head-tilt/chin-lift method.

 

3-3. Identify the proper procedures (in sequence) for

administering mouth-to-mouth, mouth-to-nose,

and mouth-to-stoma rescue breathing.

 

3-4. Identify the proper procedures for taking a

carotid pulse.
