Ruth was Zoe Foran’s older sister, mentioned in many of Tom’s letters.<\/p>\n

Zoe and Ruth lived in the same dormitory, McKinley Hall, at the University of Illinois in 1942.<\/p>\n

Zoe and Ruth remained close during their lifetimes.<\/p>\n

Following Zoe’s death in 1992, it was Zoe’s wish that her own ashes be scattered on Tom’s grave in France. Ruth travelled to France, with Tom and Zoe’s daughter, Tome Elizabeth, and fulfilled Zoe’s wish.<\/p>\n
