Miss Stoutzenberg taught Tom in High School. On January 10, 1941, Tom writes to Zoe:<\/a><\/p>\n

Stoutzenburg really blew up yesterday half at me and half at an other kid she jumped on me for never copying my assignment she talked on that for 15 minutes we sure aren\u2019t hitting it off very good any more. I went in after class and asked her for another set of review questions because I lost mine and I expected her to blow up but she was just as nice as she could be (I can\u2019t figure these women out.)<\/em><\/p>\n

She taught History, Civics, and English IV at Greenville High School. She received her AB from Greenville College, and her Masters degree from the University of Wisconsin.<\/p>\n

She was the faculty sponsor of the high school newspaper.<\/p>\n

She retired from teaching in 1948 and moved to Webster Groves, Missouri, where she operated a card shop. She died at age 76 in Webster Groves.<\/p>\n
