I\u00a0completed my\u00a0residency in OB-GYN in 1978 at Northwestern University, where I\u00a0joined the Medical School Faculty.<\/p>\n<p>For over 30 years, I was in general OBGYN clinical practice and actively engaged in teaching medical school undergraduates, residents, post-graduates, and students in related health professions. My current clinical privileges are as a Senior Attending Physician, NorthShore University Hospital, Evanston, IL. I served for many years as Director of Undergraduate Medical Education, Department of Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology, NorthShore University HealthSystem.<\/p>\n<p>I\u00a0spent 14 years in the U.S. Navy Reserve, reaching the rank of Captain in the Medical Corps. My\u00a0primary focus with the Navy was in education and training of professionals providing women\u2019s healthcare in isolated settings, and in operational medicine. For my\u00a0work, I\u00a0received two Meritorious Service medals, and the Navy Commendation Medal.<\/p>\n<p>My current positions include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago<\/li>\n<li>Senior Clinician Educator at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I\u2019m\u00a0the author of 18 peer-reviewed research papers, 7 books, and 7 textbook chapters.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, I\u2019ve reported my experiences as<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/brooksidepress.org\/the_reluctant_forester\/\">The Reluctant Forester<\/a><\/strong>, and posted my Uncle Tom Cartmell\u2019s WWII wartime experiences in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/brooksidepress.org\/cartmell\/\">2LT Thomas E. Cartmell, USAAF &#8211; A Young Man Went Off to War.<\/a> <\/strong>In your free time, you may enjoy reading these adventures.<\/p>\n<p>My\u00a0current focus is on medical training through computer-based resources.
