6-28. MONITOR AND EVACUATE THE CASUALTY

a. If you are in a combat situation, return a casualty who had a temporary loss of vision with no pain and no visible damage to the eye to duty.

Evacuate a casualty with pain, visible damage to the eye, or vision problems that do not improve to a medical treatment facility. Evacuate the casualty in a supine position.

b. If you are not in a combat situation, evacuate the casualty to a medical treatment facility for further evaluation by a medical officer.

NOTE: The evacuation is usually by ground ambulance since the injury does not justify aeromedical evacuation.
