The C-2A Greyhound provides logistics support to aircraft carriers. Its primary mission is Carrier On-Board delivery (COD). Powered by two turboprop engines, the C-2A can deliver a payload of up to 10,000 pounds. The cabin can readily accommodate cargo, passengers or both. The large aft cargo ramp and door and a powered winch allow straight-in rear cargo loading and downloading for fast turnaround.

The cabin can be configured to accept litter patients in medical evacuation missions. However, this configuration is feasible only when flying from one shore base to another. The litter configuration is not satisfactory for either carrier catapult launches or traps (carrier landings with arresting hooks).

Usually not equipped to evacuate litter patients.  It's maximum patient load is  28 ambulatory patients with 2 corpsmen.
