Butoconazole Vaginal Cream (Femstat-3)

Category:

  • Antifungal

Description:

  • Vaginal antifungal

Indications:

  • Vaginal Candidiasis (yeast infection)

Contraindications:

  • Known sensitivity to butoconazole

Precautions:

  • Pregnancy category C

  • If condition worsens, inform patient to notify health care provider.

  • Clean applicator after each use with mild soap and water.

  • Insert applicator high into vaginal cavity (except in pregnancy)

  • Refrain from intercourse during treatment.

  • Use continually, even during menstruation.

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):

  • Vulvovaginal burning and irritation (2.3%)

  • Vaginal itching (<1%)

  • Vaginal discharge

Dosage:

Vaginal Cream:

Non-pregnant patients:

  • Insert 1 applicatorful intravaginally qhs for 3 days, may use up to 6 days if needed

Pregnant patients (2nd and 3rd trimesters)

  • Insert 1 applicatorful intravaginally qhs for 6 days
