Operational Medicine 2001
Head Lamp

Order the Operational Medicine CD, developed by the US Navy and US Special Operations Command

The head lamp has a number of useful features:

  • The adjustable straps allow you to wear it on your head or on your helmet.

  • Two reflectors are provided, one with a wide, diffused focus, and the other with a narrow focus.

  • Two bulbs. A high intensity halogen bulb (2-5 hour life), and a longer-lasting krypton bulb (8-hour life).

  • Waterproof to 1000 feet.

  • Red and white lenses

It comes equipped with four AA batteries, a spare bulb, and a mesh storage bag.

Being able to direct light where you want it without using your hands is a significant advantage.

In tactical (battle) settings, it may be unwise to use any light at all, particularly one that is on your head.
