Sterile latex gloves can protect the victim against contamination by medical personnel.

Any latex gloves can protect medical personnel against contamination by the victim.

Either way, it is a good idea to use latex gloves when doing any medical procedure which might involve coming into contact with the victims body fluids (blood, urine, pus, etc.) or whenever the victim has an open wound.
