Closing an Abdomen Video

The strength of the abdominal wound lies in the fascia. This is carefully approximated with strong suture material.

Individual bleeding points are secured and the subcutaneous tissues are thoroughly irrigated.

In this case, the subcutaneous tissues are closed with interrupted suture.

A subcuticular stitch is used here to close the skin edges.

The wound is cleaned once more.

After an application of benzoin to the skin, we apply steri-strips to support the skin edges.

Sterile dressings are applied and the surgery is now complete.
