Junior enlisted berthing spaces generally accommodate 6-8 people.

Each person has their own bunk, under bunk storage space, and locker.

Junior enlisted berthing spaces are generally clustered, with 40 to 50 individuals sharing common lounge space and bathroom space (head).

The enlisted mess decks have two serving lines with hot and cold food bars. They can serve as many as 2300 enlisted personnel at each meal.

Mess seating is limited to about 350 personnel at a time, so eating is done in shifts, with blue, green and aqua times (seatings). Each meal lasts over two hours to make sure everyone has a chance to eat.

There are separate messing areas for Chief Petty Officers, Officers, and the Senior Staff Officers embarked.
