Indigo Carmine Injection

Description:

  • Dye

Indications:

  • Localizing ureteral orifices during cystoscopy and ureteral catheterization

  • Once employed at kidney function test

Contraindications:

  • Patients previously experiencing adverse reaction following use

Precautions:

  • Pregnancy category B

  • Note: store in dark, away from direct light

  • Note: Do not dilute or inject with infusion assemblies which were used with other solutions

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):

  • mild pressor effects

Dosage:

  • Administered intravenously, intramuscularly (with cystoscope already in place)

  • IV preferred; 5 ml sufficient; lesser dose for children and underweight patients
