Leopold’s Maneuvers are used to palpate the maternal abdomen to determine the fetal position and presentation.

Abdominal ultrasound scanning could be employed to obtain the same information, but requires an ultrasound machine, and an operator skilled in its’ use for this purpose. Leopold’s maneuvers are a simple examination technique.
