Chlorhexidene Oral Rinse (Peridex)

Category:

  • Antiseptic

Description:

  • Antimicrobial mouth rinse

Indications:

  • Gingivitis

  • Prophylaxis of mouth infections

Precautions:

  • Pregnancy category B; excretion into breast milk unknown; use caution in nursing mothers

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):

  • GI: altered taste perception, increase in calculus formation, irritation of oral mucosa, staining of teeth and other oral surfaces, transient parotitis

 

Dosage:

Administered as a mouthwash

  • Dose:   Use 15ml as oral rinse for 30 seconds twice daily after toothbrushing (not intended for ingestion; expectorate after rinsing)
