Manual of Naval Preventive Medicine
Chapter 1: Food Service Sanitation
IX: Inspection Reporting Procedures

1-65. Frequency of Inspection.

Department of the Navy
Bureau of Medicine and Surgery

Navy and Marine Corps food service facilities in all cases must be inspected at least once each month. All food service facilities will be inspected twice each month unless specifically exempted by the installation medical authority. Exemptions from twice a month inspection requirement may be granted locally to food service establishments that demonstrate by past performance, current training, and effective management that the exemption will most probably not adversely effect overall sanitary conditions. Exemptions should be granted by the installation medical authority when recommended by the environmental health officer/preventive medicine technician or U.S. Army Veterinary food inspector as appropriate.
