Operational Medicine 2001
Coban(TM) Bandage

Order the Operational Medicine CD, developed by the US Navy and US Special Operations Command

Coban(TM) Self-Adherent Wrap is an elastic bandage that sticks to itself, but not to anything else.

It is primarily used for:

  • Wrapping splints

  • Wrapping IV sites

  • Compression Dressings

It is "breathable," allowing water vapor to pass through it. It will not loosen over time, so if it is applied too tightly, it should be removed and reapplied with the proper tension.

The Coban(TM) Bandage as currently supplied in the MOLLE Medic bag contains natural latex rubber and should not be applied to the bare skin of individuals known to have a latex allergy or sensitivity. There is a latex-free version of the Coban (TM)Bandage, and the lable will identify it.
