Povidone Iodine (Betadine)

Category:

  • Antiseptic

Description:

  • Iodine microbicidal agent

Indications:

  • Skin disinfectant  

Contraindications:

  • Allergy to iodine.

Precautions:

  • Pregnancy category D

  • For external use only, do not use near eyes or on mucous membranes.

  • Do not ingest.

  • Product will stain skin and clothing.

  • Do not use as an occlusive dressing.

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):

Generally well tolerated.

 

 

Dosage:

  • Administered as a shampoo, ointment or scrub

  • Apply to desired areas to disinfect.  Work scrub and shampoo into a lather and then rinse well.
