  • The CG does not have profiles.

  • Staffing normally includes 1 to 4 medical officers (physician, PA or NP) and Health Services Technicians (HS’s) as support staff.

  • Services available normally include out patient ambulatory care for active duty (all services) and dependents (retirees on a space available basis), a limited formulary pharmacy, CLIA waived testing clinical laboratory services (on premises), basic radiography, and health benefits information.

  • Clinics all have dental officers assigned with one or more dental technicians assisting them.

  • The larger clinics have multiple dental officers. Some clinics hire civilian contract dental hygienists.

Most Coast Guard Groups have one Health Services Technician (IDT) assigned for the purpose of returning ambulatory active duty members to a Fit For Full Duty status, performing health services administration and record keeping, health services related training, environmental health activities, provision of health benefits information and liaison with supporting health services facilities to access and arrange care for active duty members. A designated medical officer off site supervises IDT’s.
