Dyclonine (Dyclone)

  • Local anesthetic

Description:

  • Local anesthetic

Indications:

  • Anesthetizing accessible mucous membranes prior to endoscopic procedures

  • Blocking the gag reflex

  • Relieving pain associated with oral ulcers of stomatitis

  • Postoperative wounds

  • Ano-genital lesions

Precautions:

  • Pregnancy category C

  • Traumatized mucosa

  • Sepsis in region intended for application

  • Shock, heart block

  • Children < 12 years

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):

  • CNS: depression, dizziness, drowsiness, excitation, sezures, temors

  • CV: bradycardia, cardiac arrest, myocardial depression

  • GU: urethritis (when used for urethral anesthesia)

  • RESP: respiratory tract

  • SKIN: edema, slight irritation, stinging, swelling, urticaria

Dosage:

Administered topically

  • Adult: 

    • Apply to desired area as a rinse, gargle, mouthwash, spray, wet compress, or swab as needed

    • do not exceed 30 ml of 1% solution (300mg)
